So I spent some time this weekend with the polishing compound, Meguire's 205 and wax. Got her pretty shiny now, and got rid of most of the thick layers of dirt on the hidden areas. I'm sure this bike has never seen water before (though living near the coast has its own issues, need to de-rust a few parts).
Looked at my '02, thinking about moving the braided lines over, but got to thinking "Hey, maybe do something different..." So I'll probably just buy some lines but I'm thinking of color.
On a black bike, would you go with some bright color or would that look stupid? In my mind some green lines would look really sharp, at least for brake and clutch. But I'm wondering if it would actually look cool or if I should just get silver, or maybe better, black?

You might want to accent some other parts on the bike to kinda create a theme of sorts. Or go for the corresponding paint job in that color...

Yeah, as I finished typing that I though of black, which would probably look the best.
Man, Texas, that paint scheme is out there but I like it!

Can't even remember where I snagged the pic from, it's been quite a while ago. I saved the pic cuz' I liked the color combo a lot.

Love to do something like that if I had a *LOT* more skill.
pashnit.com has 2-line front + rear brake lines on sale for about $115/set. Not sure I want 2 front lines but that seems like a good price.

I believe red and black are the perfect pairing, but somebody told me to say that.

Too many decisions, this is one of those things that keep kicking around in my mind. I think dark or transparent red lines would look good, but agree that it would really need other accents to do a red/black theme. And they'd have to be close to the same shade of red to look right. That is one nice thing about a black bike, it's not too hard to visually match the color... So my leaning now is towards either black lines, or maybe the "platinum" ones from Galfer that look like chrome. Anyone actually seen these? That seems like it would pop. I'll probably just wait a few months. There's a MC show that comes around in June where I can get ideas.

So I'm finding a few other options, wondering if anyone has experience with them. As mentioned: Galfer - The old standby. Used their lines on my '02, no complaints. Pricing isn't bad. HEL - Seems pretty well-priced and looks good. Waiting for info on extra length pricing, I want +3 since I'll be putting my Bad Ace risers on at some point (and want a little extra working room). I also found Wezmoto which seems to have very good pricing. Not sure about the coating, looks like it's a solid plastic which might not be as "cool" as the Galfer or HEL, but the "Carbolook" might work. Couldn't find anything bad about them on the 'Net. www.ebay.com/itm/Wezmoto-Standard-Braided-Brake-Lines-Kawasaki-VN1600-Mean-Streak-2004-2007-/130993103982?hash=item1e7fcc246e:g:u00AAOxyyvRSNiWk&vxp=mtr. Overlength is no charge. Goodrich and Spiegler - seem fairly expensive. I just sent Wezmoto an email inquiring about the color and getting a clutch line.

Ensure the company doesn't use aluminum ends or they can cause galvanic corrosion. Must be stainless. Otherwise I don't see much of any difference in lines from the name brand manufacturers. There are ghetto companies out of China that put stainless sleeves over rubber lines that are dressed up OEM style junk, but anything with a real stainless line is good.
