After two days work my BUBF is now reassembled and running. It seems ok, a couple of very minor things and then it's time to road test, examination and put it up for sale. I'm feeling pleased with myself, it runs well after the open heart surgery I've just given it. :-)

I'd like to but I'd run into differences of opinion with she-who-shall-be-obeyed ;-)

I'd like to but I'd run into differences of opinion with she-who-shall-be-obeyed ;-) Lagger, I had that same sort of problem. But I was thinking one day that I have more days behind than ahead of me. Had to decide how I was going to spend the time I had left. Bought the Mean Streak late last July. The divorce was final last month.

Massive step forward this weekend - I collected the frame and forks on Saturday. I must say I'm really impressed. The frame has been blasted and then powder coated in purple-red - it looks new! It's in fantastic condition. All frame fittings also refurbished and look as new. The forks are as new! Whilst I was there we got talking about other bits and pieces the guy had, I ended up getting the whole lot from him, that included fuel pump, complete radiator, the ECU(!), HT leads and coils (new leads), all sensors, front and rear brake calipers and mounts, rear brake master cylinder, rear brake linkage, a box with stacks of engine parts including a complete clutch basket with spare washers, a Power Commander III (USB), two spare barrels and heads (I already got the top half of the old engine from the guy which I think is a 1500 Meanstreak from what he was saying which means that I now have the 1500 Meanstreak camshafts!!!) plus loads more bits and pieces, too many to list here. He also gave me a Hypercharger from a VN1600 carb version - I won't/can't use that on the Meanstreak so I can clean it up and sell it on to help recoup the cost of all the bits. Saturday's foraging means that now I only need a few more bits to complete the bike - indicators (turn signals), brake and clutch levers, wheels and tyres and a couple of odds and ends. I happier than a small boy opening his huge pile of Christmas presents :-)

Err, I'll be keeping the MS, not sure about the BUBF yet, most likely have to sell it though, we'll see, maybe I'll keep her

I think you might be right Kahn, I keep looking at the pictures of the old girl from my sales ad, a twinge of regret is evident in my mind, it was a lovely bike

Funny how a collection of metals, plastics and electronics can transform a Man. I swear to God acquiring the Meanie has take almost 10 years off my Life and most certainly my outlook. Then of course I was introduced to Jimmy Tinknocker and now feel old and alone again. (j/k) Lagger that's an inside joke. The TinMan has a heart of gold as do most of the Meanie riders I've met.

Do you mind if I ask how old you are? I'm now 52, only got into bikes about 4 years ago but have always loved big f... off out of it cruiser style bikes. I used to ride a moped years ago and I managed to pass my bike driving test (compulsory here in the UK) first time, the only comment the examiner made was that he felt I was a bit hesitant and should just "go for it a bit" I thought it was better to be a bit hesitant than wrapped around the front of a truck.
