Recently attempted to revive a dead thread on RF and was notified that the guy with the knowhow had moved on. Any and all helpful information is welcome, basically the gist is this... I have a 2006 Meanie with a cracked windshield (last time I let anyone else take the bike for a spin) that I want to replace with a bullet fairing. The other thread suggests SPEED was able to get one installed on his marauder and that the headlight size and mounts were roughly the same to the Mean Streak. I found this fairing and looking at the photo it at least fits what looks to be a Vulcan custom, though to me that headlight looks small compared to the stock meanie light. So my questions for speed or anyone else who has tried/been able to get one on... 1. What make and model of fairing you used 2. What bike you put it on and what your measurements are 3. What you had to do to get it to work. I want to make sure I get the right thing before dropping the money on it. I can take measurements just looking for a jumping off point. Any help you can give I'd greatly appreciate!

Deano, first off...Welcome to VTwin-Metrics! I can guarantee you will get a response very soon. I'd respond to it myself but I have no experience with fairings so I'm going to leave that for the guys who know.
And keep asking whatever question you have. We have a target-rich group of Meanie minds in here!

I also used a headlight and bracket off of a Vulcan classic. The headlight bolts right up. Do you know the diameter of your meanie headlight? I can not remember the hole diameter in the bullet but my buddy has one on his fat boy, I will have him measure.

Hey Kahn thanks! I'm definitely going to stick with it! Recently attempted to revive a dead thread on RF and was notified that the guy with the knowhow had moved on. I'm assuming the sportshield brackets were for converting to metric? Was this the fairing you got? It looks like the only one meant to fit a Fat Boy. I measured my headlight, it's roughly 7.75" ... well...It's 24" circumference and that translates to roughly 7.6394" diameter or about 194mm...probably 200mm? I tried looking up the OEM spec for the part but could only find places to order it not measurements.

Hey Kahn thanks! I'm definitely going to stick with it! This is a GREAT group of Meanie Riders. They've taught me everything I know...which isn't much, but still! Of course, watch out for a character who sometimes roams around in here named Jimmy Tin-Knocker. That guy will set you back hundreds with various Meanie knick-knacks from his never-ending parts bin!

Haha might be a good thing. I was a bit disappointed with the availability of customization for the Meanie after I bought it. A few items here or there but nothing to truly set it apart. I guess the bike itself is a bit different but still making it your own is half the fun! I will eventually be in the market for a hypercharger but that's for another thread

I hadn't expected to like the bullet fairing but I have to say it looks very good. I might just have to add that to my wish list
What front wheel have you got there?

Here ya go Ok yea! So the headlamp looks to be about the same and that definitely looks like the one for the Fat Boy with the open part on the bottom. You said you got the sportsmount kit? Is that the quick release thing or something else? Also your front wheel is badass. Definitely something I want to do in the long run but don't have $1300+ to spend on haha.

All Memphis shades sport shields and bullet have same mounting points on shields. You just need to purchase the sportshield mounting kit and blades. These are nit the trigger lock but are quick disconnect. You can't get trigger lock for meanstreak. You also need to bend the mounting tabs on the blades that mount to the bullet because the angles are off a little. No big deal, you will see when you put it on.

That's it. And yea the tabs are just a little off on angle to shield because if the shape but I had the fork tube brackets on fat fork tubes, so that may have put it at a weird angle from being mounted a little wider

And yea the tabs are just a little off on angle to shield because if the shape but I had the fork tube brackets on fat fork tubes, so that may have put it at a weird angle from being mounted a little wider Awesome. I think the fork tubes I have are the stock ones but they are pretty fat (unless you mean for FB in which case they're different that what you have). I was starting to think "man I gotta fork out an extra $100 to get this fairing mounted now?" but I realized the windshield I bought the bike with is this one that is already mounted to the bike WITH THE QUICK CONNECT SPORTSHIELD MOUNT. So I should be able to just take off the broken windshield and mount the other one right to it! Here's hoping Thanks for all your help! I'll post pics whenever I get it and get it mounted.

Yep you sure can. You are set my friend. Your fork tubes are stock. I had a fat kit on mine, had to jury the mounting straps to fit. You should be good. Roger was to measure his head light, I bet he forgot. I will bust him up a little and get that for ya

Well crap. I think difference is I used a classic headlight. The bucket is shorter and may sit a tad higher. Also look closer, turns are mounted up high. I had fat fork tubes, so they fit tight.

All good. I think I might do some measurements and have a buddy 3D print a spacer to put under where the lamp mounts, might be a considerably cheaper solution than trying to find the classic headlamp. Turns will have to be something else, seems like I could just order new mounts that fit the tubes at the top, may have to measure that as well and get something on the bottom range so they don't slide down at all. Thanks again for all your help and the pics, definitely couldn't have gotten this far without it.

Top of fork tube is 52mm. You could wrap top of tube with self fuzing silicone repair tape or line inside of rubber with adhesive backed rubber

Going to try and get them up top. The silicone tape is a good idea. That should hang onto the fork without being permanent and at the very least make the signals tight around the fork.
My buddy with the 3D printer said he was good to print a part so now I just gotta take some measurements and build the model. I'll post pics when I have stuff done.
