Hello guys, I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help me out a little. My Meanstreak was an import from the US into the UK and I'm now in the process of getting it properly registered here (much patience needed dealing with the Government folks) One item of information I need to try to provide is the date of first registration. Over here I could probably find that out for a UK vehicle but I'm struggling to find a source for the US.
Does anyone know if there's a website where I could enter the VIN number and find out the date of first registration? (and ideally where?)
Just in case someone knows how to get this info for the US, the VIN number is JKBVNAP162A003189
Cheers EDIT - I managed to find a Vehicle History report that shows Title Records as date 2003-01-01 (which I presume to be date of first registration since the VIN decodes to 2002 build year) and State of Title is Colorado. There's no other information about title but there are also no problems listed and no junk/salvage or insurance records found so I think it's clean.
Anyone know any more about checking stuff for Colorado and title? For example, I don't know when it was sold in the US and when it was imported to the UK. I realise this is a long shot....

Does carfax work for bikes? Since you own it you might be able to get a VIN history report through the CO DMV. If England is the country it was imported into then they should have the initial registration info for overseas. The shipping info would be more difficult unless you know the person who brought it over.

Some progress, I received an email from the Customs and Excise folks yesterday telling me that the bike had already been entered onto their system a couple of years ago. That's great news for me as it means I don't get stung for any customs or tax duties. Now I need to go back to our beloved Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency and ask them to please re-check, I may be in luck. Worst case scenario is that I still need to get the bike registered but the import headache has now gone!
