Has anyone fitted an alternative fuel tank to a mean streak ? What did you use ?
I would like a larger capacity fuel tank and don't mind doing some fabrication to make it fit - just thought Id check to see if anyone had already done it .
Thanks

Can't really help you out with your problem but here's a picture of a Vulcan getting ready for in-flight refuelling: Victor to Vulcan
( sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to post a picture of one of the most fantastic aircraft ever built - I used to occasionally be lucky enough to see them in flight when I lived up in Norfolk, nothing quite comes close to the hair raising howl from the engines when one of these big birds goes for it with throttle up!)

Thanks for the pic - it brought back memories of my days in the Royal Air Force before I joined the Fire and rescue Service : )
I didn't think there was going to be an "easy Fit" for this one , but as my meanstreak is now at what most would call a "rat" condition Im not afraid to try some radical mods. A bigger capacity would be ace and Im sure there must be a tank out there that could work - I've just got keep looking.

If all else fails you could maybe fabricate something yourself or get someone to do it. I could imagine doing something like cutting the top of a standard MS tank and adding in say an inch band all the way around then replacing the top, basically just enlarging the standard tank. A job certainly not beyond a decent metal fabrication shop. Actually, I just searched on Google and found plenty of pics and write ups that show this is something that plenty of people have done. Of course it would be much easier to find something that fits out of the box but I think that's pretty unlikely mate.

A company used to make a small hot box style steel tank for carb versions. Despite trying to work with them they had no interest in building one for injected bikes. The toolbags even refused to sell me just the tank so i could adapt it myself. You have 2 options. 1) Widen the original tank, I saw a meanie this was done on and was a show bike for a wheel company in Ohio. Looked great. Should add 1-1.5 gallons. 2) Build a hot box out of steel, relocate the fuel pump to the new tank, and weld bungs to route 2 fuel lines from the base of the original tank down to the new one. Should add 2-2.5 gallons and a very low center of gravity for the added weight. It would also get rid of any issues trying to keep fuel at the pump like a typical secondary tank that is easy to use on a carb'd petcock tie-in but a pain in the ass for injected bikes that need a specific pressure and can't be gravity fed with our relatively high pump locations.
