Just a friendly reminder to lube the kick stand mounting point and inspect for wear. I was reminded of this today when I stopped for gas and the springs popped off because it had worn enough to change the angle of the stand and the extra angle caused the bolt to shear off at the nut. Couldn't find the nut but there was enough bolt left to keep the stand in place for the bike to sit on it. Preliminary inspections look like I am going to have to add some weld on the mount in order to build it up and then re-drill the hole and add a new nut and bolt.
To add insult to injury after I secured the stand to the frame with a zip tie I was traveling home and had a fuel line pop off from the quick disconnect and spray myself and the bike with premium at 80mph. I had to do a quick roadside repair, luckily I had my tool bag from work with me. On the upside I have an excuse to go pick up that miller tig welder I have had my eye on!

Sounds as though you had a lucky escape and didn't have the bike fall over, that would have been nasty. What will do, weld an extra blob of metal onto the stand and drill and tap it for the replacement bolt?

Basically yes, I'll build up the pad across the surface and then smooth it out with a grinder and then drill the hole out.
