I'm probably getting a little ahead of myself here - I haven't yet finished what we could call my Mk I build of my Meanie but I'm looking ahead at what my future plans will be. I already pretty much know what I will do for the full engine works I'm planning (Mk I build has more or less standard Meanie 1500 engine but with Classic camshafts - I'm reserving my 1500 Meanie Camshafts for the MK II build). I already have a large part of the Mk II engine but of course, I will need a crankcase unless I re-use my Mk I case. So, from 1996 onwards the crankcases all look pretty much the same to me, right up to production end in what, 2008? with the 1700 series case etc. Has anyone ever noted any differences between any years? My current Mk I build is using a 1999 Classic crankcase, I did notice that one of the gear shaft bearing housings is different but that was easy to get around (just swapped the roller bearing on the shaft to the earlier type). Are there any other differences? I haven't noticed any but I would be interested to learn.
Interested to hear opinions..... Cheers

Thanks! Good to know. I'll keep my eyes open for a decently priced crankcase. Cheers
