Got a laugh to day when I was perusing CraigsList for Meanie parts.
This guy has his Meanie up for sale:
"I am selling a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan Mean streak 1600cc motorcycle. 30000 miles, well maintained, two owner bike. Tires, brakes, exhaust, air filter and oil are in great condition as is the rest of the bike! Regular maintenance ALWAYS!
Great first bike for someone, or low enough seat for shorter rider, or female rider!"
Gee, I'm really not sure putting a new rider into a Meanie seat is the smartest move in the world?

Yeah I agree with you Kahn. I think a Meanie is too much bike to start out with. Some people COULD handle it ok but most probably could not.

I must add however there are a few women who look pretty damned good on the seat of a Meanie!

My only thought is that it's not a real lightweight at around 650lbs if you drop it in a parking lot, which can happen (or so I've heard ) Otherwise it seems to be the power/weight ratio that get new riders in trouble and for that reason I'd suggest a Meanie over a Ninja. But really, preferring cruisers, I probably would suggest a 900 or Shadow.

Yea.... Definitely not a first bike for someone of smaller stature or young and willing to ham fist the throttle every time. Hell my first time taking mine to work I second guessed having it as a 2nd bike. Passing a semi on the bypass i rolled in the throttle and before i knew it was closing in on about 110 mph. Moved a hell of a lot faster then the 650 honda I was used to.

First, I could not believe how fast she screamed up to 120, but she showed no signs of problems. Second, when I shut down at 120, she was still pulling strong with no signs of stopping.

My first bike was a '94 Kawasaki ZX-11D. Keep in mind though I had ridden off road for a few years, many of those times were on some really over powered dirt bikes and quads.

One guy out west had a youtube video of him taking his Meanie just up to the 130 line (about redline). Too fast for this old boy, I'd be afraid of breaking something.

You know, I really didn't do much street racing at all since I got the Meanie. The one Bike that really wanted to give me a go was a Sportster 1200, fairly new from the looks. I'm gonna give her a break and say she might not have been really trying her hardest...but I walked away from that thing with ease.
