Looking forward to seeing those bags. I have been looking for hard bags myself but can't find the ones I want or find them and they are made of gold.

So I got tired of the calico look I had going on the bike. Currently it's in just primer. Choice of color might have changed though. After seeing it in the black both my fiance and I agree that a dark metallic black or grey will really look good on it as the finished product.

I used Duplicolor color match touch up paint from Auto Zone. And the clear is again an off the shelf rattle can from A.Z.
There was also a good rub down with some 2500 grit paper... Just to smooth it out a bit.

Being limited on options for paint on a budget that was the best solution. Full paint job for about $75 total.

Looks good. When I painted mine I did some research, and the auto paint shop confirmed, you shouldn't wax for something like a few weeks to let it completely off-gas without trapping gas under wax. OK to polish the hell out of it, just without adding a coating.
Can't confirm, but it worked for me. I never did wax mine, just finer & finer polishes.

Yea Lee you are correct but not sure if lacquer acts the same as bc/cc. But I would use a glaze for the first few weeks.

I have used the spray max 2k clear and 2k epoxy. Yea you have a time frame for sure. Trick is put in the fridge, lasts longer. Don't think you can put urethane over lacquer but not sure about that

I was reading the instructions and it said 24 hours befor buffing or waxing on the one i bought. Might be a difference in how it's made? Thanks for the heads up on that though.

Lacquer is a chemical bond for each coat where urethane is a mechanical bond, so also lacquer has no recoat time so it will reactivate with each coat irregardless of time frame. So it's different than bc/cc so you may be good on the buff and wax

I'm pretty sure it's a lacquer.. I'd have to look again and the cans are locked in the garage now. I do know I made sure to match the paint and clear type. I was reading it in the store to make sure it was what i wanted and i remember it specifically said "do not use on air dried enamel paints"

I didn't know if that was Lacquer, or what the difference would be really. Good to know.
For polishing after sanding with 1500 or 2000 I just used good ol' Turtle Wax rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then Meguire's 105 or 205, whichever is finer. For the early part I used a power polisher and polished the heck out of it, and finally a last hand-polish with the Meguire's.

Do you wet sand the clear as well before polishing?

Depending on the amount of orange peel ya got. If it's smooth buff, if ya need to cut some orange out, Start with 2000 see if that's, enough. Don't want to burn thru

Don't want to burn thru I picked up a pack of 2500 to smooth the primer coat before i started. Still got plenty of that left. My only concern was damage to the finish.
